Common Questions About Mini Splits in DFW

What size mini split do I need for my room?
For rooms up to 250 sq ft, a 6,000 BTU (½ ton) unit is typically sufficient. Rooms from 250–550 sq ft need a 12,000 BTU (1 ton) unit. Large rooms or open floor plans from 550–1,000 sq ft require an 18,000 BTU (1½ ton) unit. In Texas heat, erring on the next size up is never a bad idea.
How much does mini split installation cost in DFW?
We charge $350 for one unit installation. Two units at the same address on the same date are $500 total. Three units are $700. Four or more: $700 for the first three, plus $200 for each additional unit. Installation includes connecting to existing power or a pigtail plug if an outlet is within 3 feet of the head unit. Electrical panel work or new wiring is not included.
Does a mini split need its own dedicated circuit?
Yes. Our 6,000 BTU 110v unit can often run on an existing 15 or 20 amp circuit if no other large appliances are on that same circuit. Our 12,000 BTU and 18,000 BTU units require a dedicated 220v circuit. If you don't already have one in place, you'll need an electrician to install it before your install date.
Can I buy the unit without installation?
Yes. You can purchase any unit without installation and we'll ship it to your DFW address for $49.95. If you later want us to come install it, that can be scheduled separately.
Do mini splits work for heating in Texas winters?
Absolutely. All of our units are heat pumps that provide both cooling and heating. They're highly efficient in mild-to-moderate winters like most of Texas experiences, and significantly cheaper to run than electric resistance heaters or older HVAC systems.
How long does installation take?
A single-zone installation typically takes 2–4 hours. Two units at the same address usually take 4–6 hours. You'll be up and running the same day.
